Melanoma amelanótico primario de cavidad oral. Presentación de un caso clínico

RESUMEN

El melanoma es una lesión maligna cuyo origen son los melanocitos. Puede surgir de novo o de alguna lesión previa melanocítica. Se presenta tanto en la piel como en las mucosas, siendo el primer sitio el más común. Su origen se relaciona con la exposición a los rayos ultravioleta; sin embargo, este factor no se vincula con las lesiones bucales. Típicamente se presenta como una lesión asimétrica, con bordes irregulares, varios colores (café, negro, blanco, rojo o azul, dependiendo de la cantidad y profundidad donde se encuentre la melanina) y un diámetro mayor a 6 mm. Dentro de la cavidad oral es una lesión que se puede presentar de un tamaño significativo. Se reporta el caso de un melanoma amelanótico de la cavidad bucal y su tratamiento quirúrgico.
