Necesidad de las guías de práctica clínica

La enfermedad vascular cerebral (EVC) representa una de las principales causas de muerte y la principal causa de discapacidad en sujetos mayores de 50 años. Diez por ciento (5.7 de 56 millones) de las defunciones ocurridas en 2001 fueron atribuidas a EVC, colocando a esta patología como la segunda causa de mortalidad general a nivel mundial.
