RESUMEN

Antecedentes. En pacientes con infección crónica por VHC se ha descrito el polimorfismo de nucleótido único (PNU) de la IL-28B rs12979860 como un importante predictor de respuesta al tratamiento con ribavirina e interferón pegilado alfa (IFN alfa). Los portadores del polimorfismo CC presentan porcentajes > 80% de respuesta viral sostenida (RVS). Los pacientes con el polimorfismo TT presentan las tasas menores, alrededor de 40% de RVS, y los pacientes CT presentan tasas intermedias de RVS. Objetivo. Determinar la distribución de los polimorfismos de la interleucina 28B (IL-28B) rs12979860 en pacientes con infección crónica por virus de hepatitis C (VHC) estudiados en la Fundación Clínica Médica Sur. Material y métodos. Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo y descriptivo en la Fundación Clínica Médica Sur para determinar la distribución de los genotipos de la IL-28B rs12979860 realizados en el Laboratorio de Patología Clínica en pacientes con VHC crónica. Resultados. De marzo 2011 a diciembre 2012 se realizaron 59 determinaciones del genotipo de la IL-28B rs12979860. El 25% (15/59) presentó el polimorfismo CC, 51% (30/59) el CT y 24% (14/59) el TT. Conclusiones. En la población estudiada se observó un alto porcentaje de pacientes con polimorfismos asociados a bajas tasas de RVS al tratamiento con IFN alfa y ribavirina. El genotipo CC asociado a mejores tasas de RVS sólo se encontró en 25% de los pacientes.
