RESUMEN

El leiomiosarcoma óseo primario se presenta en casos esporádicos, es una entidad clínico-patológica propia. Es un tumor de origen primario óseo extremadamente raro. La mayoría de los leiomiosarcomas óseos registrados hasta el momento se han localizado en la metáfisis de huesos largos. Estas lesiones proceden de células musculares lisas de la pared de los vasos sanguíneos intraóseos o de células mesenquimales pluripotentes. La histología es la misma que la del leiomiosarcoma de tejidos blandos. La distribución por género de estos tumores ha sido ligeramente predominante en los varones. Frecuentemente, son difíciles de tratar. El pronóstico es malo, con tasas de supervivencia entre las más bajas. Se presentan los hallazgos más representativos por resonancia magnética y PETCT de un caso de leiomiosarcoma óseo primario.
