Mirmecia: iatrogenia y consideraciones de tratamiento

RESUMEN

Mirmecia: especie de montículo generado por una verruga en la palma de la mano o planta de los pies. Su aspecto morfológico se muestra preferentemente como lesión endo o exofítica, con helioma (collar hiperqueratósico) o callosidad indurada, dolorosa a la presión profunda. Ocasionalmente, esta proliferación epidérmica puede llegar a tendones, fascia o hueso y en éste causar erosiones crónicas.4 Se parte de la premisa de que, de las verrugas extragenitales, la más resistente al tratamiento es la plantar.
Es bien conocido en la actualidad que las múltiples terapéuticas empleadas en forma local para tratar las verrugas carecen de una evidencia altamente confiable, por lo que al dermatólogo acudirán preferentemente los enfermos que tienen insatisfechas sus expectativas de los primeros dos escalones, o complicaciones de los mismos.
