RESUMEN
La transmisión local del virus
del chikungunya en el continente
Americano desde el año 2013 ha
provocado la necesidad de que los
médicos reconozcan el cuadro y
den seguimiento a sus tendencias
epidemiológicas. Este virus es
transmitido por el mosquito
Aedes aegypti; el mismo vector
implicado en la transmisión del
dengue. Las manifestaciones
principales constituyen la fiebre
de alto grado y el dolor articular
incapacitante. El tratamiento es
sintomático y dirigido al control
del vector.
