Laparoscopía de estadiaje en cáncer gástrico

RESUMEN

El cáncer gástrico sigue siendo un problema de salud pública a nivel mundial. La cirugía radical constituye el único tratamiento curativo en cáncer gástrico avanzado, sin embargo, solamente la mitad de los pacientes califican para una cirugía radical al momento del diagnóstico. La laparoscopía de estadiaje es una herramienta útil, que se recomienda en todos los pacientes que presentan enfermedad localmente avanzada que estén en condiciones médicas de someterse a una gastrectomía, y no necesiten una intervención por obstrucción gástrica o por hemorragia activa. Con criterios adecuados, la laparoscopía diagnóstica altera el manejo en más de un 25% de los casos.
