RESUMEN

La valoración preoperatoria es una valiosa herramienta que tiene el potencial de evitar complicaciones cardiacas en el periodo perioperatorio. La historia clínica y el examen físico son partes esenciales de esta evaluación. Los exámenes de laboratorio y de gabinete deben ser selectivos y justificados por la misma valoración clínica. Es importante interrogar sobre alergias, resultados de cirugías y anestesia previas y el estado funcional del paciente.
