ABSTRACT

The pre-operative evaluation has the potential to avoid cardiac complications during the perioperative period. The history and physical examination are the most important tools in this evaluation. Laboratory testing should be selective and justified by specific findings on the clinical evaluation. Is important to ask about allergies, surgical and anesthetic history and functional status of the patient.
