Alergia ocular en el paciente pediátrico

RESUMEN

Este artículo tiene como objetivo revisar la fisiopatología, sintomatología, clasificación y terapéutica de la alergia ocular en pacientes pediátricos. La alergia ocular es uno de los padecimientos oculares más frecuentes en los pacientes pediátricos y ésta suele acompañarse de otras manifestaciones alérgicas. Es causada predominantemente por una reacción de hipersensibilidad inmediata tipo I. Existen dos formas agudas: conjuntivitis alérgica estacional (CAE) y conjuntivitis alérgica perenne (CAP); y tres crónicas: queratoconjuntivitis primaveral (QCV); queratoconjuntivitis atópica (QCA) y la conjuntivitis papilar gigante (CPG).
