Es noticia en la actualidad, en el mundo, que el prestigioso Premio Nobel de Medicina fue otorgado en este año 2015, a tres científicos que han realizado importantes aportes en el campo de la terapéutica, frente a enfermedades infecciosas. De ellos, quisiéramos comentar en especial, el caso de Youyou Tu, investigadora china procedente del área farmacéutica, que a pesar de los “tres no” (no ser médico, no tener un grado doctoral… ¡y nunca haber trabajado en el extranjero!), supo hace poco más de cuarenta años, aprovechar esa fuente de conocimiento que es, la materia médica china para desarrollar las investigaciones que le condujeron a identificar la artemisinina como tratamiento eficaz del paludismo.
