El dilema del prognatismo mandibular

Mucho se puede decir de las múltiples alternativas diagnósticas y tratamientos que hasta ahora se conocen para el tratamiento de una clase III; sin embargo, los resultados pueden ser en muchas ocasiones pobres, lentos e inclusive frustrantes para el especialista.
¿Cómo podemos explicar a un paciente que después de tres odontólogos y haber utilizado múltiples aparatos funcionales clase III, mentonera, máscara facial, expansión y extracción de premolares por un periodo de siete años, va a requerir de cirugía ortognática, dos años más de tratamiento ortodóntico, múltiples injertos gingivales en incisivos inferiores, coronas en molares por el grado de descalcificación y monitoreo de por vida de las condiciones en sus raíces cortas?
