RESUMEN

El melanoma es el tumor cutáneo de mayor morbimortalidad. Los primeros reportes se remontan al siglo V a.C. pero no fue hasta el siglo XIX cuando se identifica como enfermedad específica. A partir de ese momento inician las primeras descripciones de la enfermedad así como de las vías de diseminación y se postulan tratamientos quirúrgicos que fueron la Guía del Tratamiento del Melanoma por varias décadas.
