FRAGMENTO

LES es una enfermedad autoinmune crónica, donde el sistema inmunológico ataca a sus propias células produciendo inflamación y daño, debido a la unión de nuestros anticuerpos a las células del organismo y al depósito de complejos antígeno-anticuerpo.
El término lupus deriva del nombre latín para “lobo”, debido a que el rostro inflamado del paciente adopta una similitud con la cara de este animal. La enfermedad normalmente se exhibe en la nariz y en las mejillas; un eritema malar con forma de alas de mariposa. El término se atribuye al médico del siglo XII Rogerius, quien lo utilizó para describir el eritema malar clásico.
