Edema macular y retinopatía diabética en la atención primaria

RESUMEN

Se presenta el caso clínico de una paciente de 64 años con cuadro de un año de evolución de pérdida progresiva de la visión y antecedentes de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 e hipertensión arterial con control irregular, en quien se diagnostica retinopatía diabética no proliferativa severa bilateral con edema macular diabético moderado a severo. Se exponen los métodos diagnósticos utilizados, la conducta terapéutica implementada, evolución clínica y desenlace de la retinopatía. Se hace una revisión de la literatura del edema macular diabético dirigida a los médicos de atención primaria, recalcando la importancia de la tamización temprana de esta patología.
