Análisis bibliométrico: Hitos en medicina sexual, terapéuticas de la disfunción eréctil en el tiempo

RESUMEN

Introducción: La medicina sexual ha tenido un desarrollo con amplio trasfondo histórico, desde los entendimientos mágico-religiosos de la concepción y la virilidad, hasta los entendimientos fisiopatológicos de la fecundación y la erección. El conocimiento de los sucesos históricos ha permitido el surgimiento de nuevas terapias de tratamiento en medicina sexual. A diferencia de otras disciplinas, la medicina sexual conserva diferentes opciones de manejo a través del tiempo.
Objetivos: El presente artículo surge de la necesidad de analizar y evaluar las tendencias de publicación en medicina sexual. Como propósito busca dimensionar el comportamiento y énfasis en la terapéutica de la disfunción en un periodo de 20 años. Recordando las fechas que cambiaron los paradigmas, el desarrollo y la investigación en esta disciplina.
Metodología: Análisis bibliométrico por quinquenios utilizando Pubmed.
Conclusión: Se encontró el aumento de tendencia en publicaciones relacionadas con testosterona, inhibidores de la 5 fosfodiesterasa y antioxidantes; manteniéndose en el tiempo los sistemas de vacío. Con este análisis logramos poner en evidencia los abundantes caminos pendientes que tiene esta disciplina por recorrer.
