RESUMEN

El síndrome de intestino irritable (sii) es una enfermedad crónica que afecta la función gastrointestinal y requiere una demanda importante de atención médica; su incidencia aumenta dependiendo de los estilos de vida y otras comorbilidades. Actualmente el enfoque terapéutico se debe hacer de forma integral llevando a cabo un adecuado seguimiento y tratamiento. El objetivo de esta revisión es dar a conocer los factores de riesgo, la sintomatología y el tratamiento utilizado para este síndrome, con el propósito de fortalecer su abordaje multidisciplinario y mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes.
