Tratamiento de la infección por SARS-CoV-2

RESUMEN

Dada la reciente aparición de la infección por SARS coronavirus 2 en el mundo, no existen lineamientos definitivamente aceptados para su tratamiento. En la mayoría de los pacientes la infección se manifiesta con síntomas leves o puede ser asintomática. En la minoría de los pacientes la infección puede resultar en síndrome de insuficiencia respiratoria progresiva. Las medidas de aislamiento son decisivas para evitar la transmisión de la enfermedad a la población general y a las personas enfermas proveer tratamiento. Se han propuesto varios tratamientos, pero hasta el momento ninguno ha tenido resultados claramente positivos. El remdesivir, un medicamento que se desarrolló para tratar la infección por virus de Ébola, parece ofrecer las mejores posibilidades. Se ha recomendado la anticoagulación profiláctica porque un alto porcentaje de pacientes tiene trastornos de la coagulación. En niños y adolescentes enfermos convalecientes se ha descrito un síndrome que semeja a la enfermedad de Kawasaki.
