Obstrucción intestinal tardía secundaria a migración de cono de polipropileno

RESUMEN

Entre las complicaciones secundarias al uso de prótesis de polipropileno en la reparación de hernias inguinales destacan la infección de sitio quirúrgico superfi cial y profundo, migración de malla, obstrucción intestinal y perforación de vísceras intraabdominales, dos últimas son reportadas anecdóticamente. Este tipo de complicaciones pueden ocurrir en diferentes intervalos de tiempo posterior a la hernioplastia. El propósito de este artículo es reportar un caso de obstrucción intestinal secundaria a migración de malla a cavidad peritoneal en un paciente previamente asintomático sometido a plastia inguinal izquierda 10 años previos a su ingreso al hospital.
