ABSTRACT

The current essay adresses the way that the Nursing field, from an educator role perspective, can prepare for changes, and introduce in their praxis technology innovations through the development of research competencies which will influence at the same time in the care and managerial growth of nursing field, using a new educational approach called Connectivism as a support. The objective of this essay is to ponder the relationship that exists between the research competencies and Connectivism. The demand for knowledge is increasing, and for the healthcare professionals it requires continuous training, and the creation of new knowledge in this changing global process of scientific and technological development. In knowledge societies one of the most important roles is the innovation and creativity of the user to acquire and exchange information. Nursing is not the exception to the use of new learning technologies, the implementation and use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) by nurses is becoming a key point in the policy of improving the quality of nursing care. Currently the nursing field needs to propel more and more research competencies, because only through them, nursing can consolidate as a science. It´s considered that one of the ways to achieve the growth of investigative competencies is through the implementation of ICTs, supported by Connectivism. This essay proposed the definition of the concepts of “Nursing investigative competencies” and “Connectivism in Nursing”.
