ABSTRACT

Skin manifestations due to sars-cov-2 have been reported in different countries. In Mexico, it has been published that urticaria and maculopapular rashes are the most frequent associated dermatosis.
Objetive: to describe the cutaneous manifestations and their histopathological characteristics in Mexican patients with sarscov- 2 infection at the Hospital de Especialidades, Centro Médico Nacional Siglo xxi, imss from March 15, 2020 to October 15, 2020.
Material and methods: We carried out a retrospective, cross-sectional and descriptive study of patients diagnosed with covid-19 who were hospitalized in the covid area. Patients older than 18 years were included, with a positive test for sarscov- 2, who presented a dermatological manifestation and skin biopsy was performed for histopathological studies with hematoxylin- eosin and immunohistochemistry for c4d and langerina.
Results: twelve patients with covid-19 associated dermatosis who underwent skin biopsy were included. In 50% they were localized-dermatoses with a greater affection to the lower limbs, characterized by purpuric dermatoses in half of the cases.
Conclusions: the clinical-pathological correlation could not be established, not the association between proinflammatory and thrombotic laboratory indicators with histopathology due to the reduced sample size. Even so, our study provides both clinical and histopathological characteristics in patients hospitalized for severe covid.
