Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint

ABSTRACT
This article refers to a bibliographic review of synovial chondromatosis, this is a benign pathology that develops at the level of the joints, with a lower incidence at the temporomandibular joint, approximately 300 cases have been reported since 1993, with a higher range in the fifth decade of life, predilection for the female sex 2:1 in relation to the male.
Case report: a female in the sixth decade of life with increased volume in the right preauricular region, asymptomatic, with a history of type II diabetes mellitus, who undergoes complete excision of the lesion, under general anesthesia, at the moment without data of recurrence with follow-up at one year.
