ABSTRACT
A study of 100 patients with skin maladies who had been seen by the family practitioner and then sent to the department of dermatology of a second level hospital for treatment, showed the need to highlight the errors in diagnosis and clinical tests during initial patient contact. Such failings affect not only therapy but also the costs afforded to the social security; the aim is not to be critical but merely to identify these problems in order to propose measures for solving them and to improve the quality of our daily medical practice.
