ABSTRACT

The health emergency originated by SARS COV-2, which has been experienced since 2020, has currently become a syndemic with an impact not only on the biological part, but also on the psychological and social state. Disinformation in conjunction with fake news has increased with the help of social networks worldwide. The infodemic we are participating in is nothing more than a harmful and exponential epidemic that reproduces itself vertiginously with the help of this technological tool. It has been documented how this pandemic of information, exacerbated by the so-called "doomscrolling" has influenced the mental health of the population, which generates constant anxiety and fear. This disinformation boom that has claimed lives around the world can be counteracted if health personnel, media and authorities consult official platforms and search engines that generate scientifically valid knowledge based on a critical reading of the information.
