ABSTRACT

Introduction: Retroperitoneal tumors, are rare lessions with an incidence of 0.3-3%. Among these; 60-85% are malign lessions. In 15-40 % left, inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) appears as the most infrequent lession in retroperitoneum.
Case report: Male, 66 years old with 4 months with abdominal mass and pain 15 days ago. Assimetric abdomen and a 10 x 12 centimeters mass to the palpation in left inferior cuadrant. Blood samples within normal values; Tomography scan and excretory urography reveals retroperitoneal mass invading left ureter. A complete tumor´s resection was performed.
Histological findings reveals an IMT (inflammatory pseudotumor). Patient´s discharge take place at day 9. Following-up within 4 months, has been without any problem. The patient didn´t receive adjuvant therapy.
Discussion: This report describe a patient with a retroperitoneal mass, corresponding to an IMT, these tumors have a cure rate of almost 100% after resection. This is an anecdotal presentation in retroperitoneum.
