Are oedema sharp haemorrhagic and purple of Henoch Schöulein oneself illness in the infant?

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Infant acute hemorrhagic edema is a cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis characterized by: fever, edema and purpuric lesions, starts in 4 to 24 months old infants, etiology remains unknown however, still some factors are to be investigated. It has a good prognosis with a short course and spontaneous recovery of the lesions within a few weeks. Some authors think that it is a benign form of Henoch-Schönlein purpura.
Case report: 9 months old male, showing infected high airways, cutaneous lesions characterized by palpable purpura on face, auricules, trunk and extremities, with no pain. Laboratory analysis showed 15,700 mm3 white blood cells, determination of IgA and normal complement fractions. Biopsy with leukocytoclastic vasculitis. The patient evolved satisfactorily and the lesions disappeared within 3 weeks.
