ABSTRACT

Introduction: The essential actions aim to promote specific improvements that allow providing safe and quality care; one of them is infusion therapy, being one of the procedures most used by the nursing professional for the administration of medications intravenously. In addition, it is important to carry out compliance with each of them, as well as adherence to the guidelines of NOM-022, for the prevention of adverse events, such as incorrect identification of the patient. Clinical case: It deals with a patient who realized the incorrect administration of the intravenous solution since the data written on the label of the solution belonged to another patient. Conclusion: The management of infusion therapy is a standardized procedure performed by the nursing staff that, when applied well, will reduce adverse events and contribute to quality care.
