ABSTRACT

Galectin-3 is a lectin with intracellular and extracellular functions. Galectin-3 is upregulated in thyroid follicular neoplasms and the immunohistochemical localization in follicular cells provides a good cytological marker for preoperative diagnosis of thyroid follicular carcinoma in nodular lesions.
