ABSTRACT

A case report or case series are narrative biomedical research studies for the purpose of describing information about rare diseases or clinical síndromes, unusual side effects to treatment, and diagnostic test in one or more patients. These are exploratory studies where it is not posible to determine a cause-effect association. This article describes the main characteristics of the design, analyzes the essential elements to develop and evaluate a highly publishable case report or case series.
