ABSTRACT

The implementation of the "Statal Computerized Monitoring and Traceability System" tool (SIEST) by the Statal Transplant Center (Centro Estatal de Trasplantes) of San Luis Potosí allows us to know and evaluate the transplant response capacity (percentage of transplanted patients over the total number of patients registered during the evaluated time), in addition to other indicators such as: the number of transplants performed per million of local population or of each Hospital, by type of transplant, or by any other single or combined criteria, as well as the follow-up of patients registered for transplant, establishing itself as a quality tool. The use of technology in the automation of those reports allows the optimization of resources and time. In the donation and transplantation processes, the timely response to the supply of organs available for transplantation is decisive and can determine the destination of their distribution, so it is essential to have this information available at all times. In addition, the updating of statistical reports and constant information to society are decisive in generating confidence in the processes, which can increase the willingness to become an organ donor.
