ABSTRACT

Mucormycosis is an often-fatal disease of low prevalence, rapidly progressive, caused by fungi of the family Mucoraceae more common in immunocompromised and diabetic decompensated patients. Rhinocerebral mucormycosis is the most common, most aggressive and fatal manifestation with extensive destruction of tissue necrosis, treatment includes antifungal, aggressive surgical debridement and correction of poor immunity. When obtaining healing treatment is directed to the reconstruction of areas devastated by flaps do including pre-laminated.
Case report: Female patient 42 years of nursing profession with a history of Diabetes Mellitus 2 with functional sequelae and secondary aesthetic to infection mucormycosis rhino-cerebral, underwent surgery for reconstructive surgery with an Indian prelaminated flap with satisfactory results, achieving the nasal respiratory function, redefining contours of the nose, aesthetic restoration and functionality of the eye socket preparing for prosthetic eye socket.
