Current concepts in the dental management of the diabetic patient

ABSTRACT

The significance and prevalence that the Endocrinology-metabolic problems have, are of primordial importance for the health professional and this includes the Dentistry branch for evident manifestations and bucal and sistemic repercutions like it’s medical pharmacologic handling, that obligates to implement changes to dental therapeutic modality and to watch considerations and restrictions on the Dentistry handling of this individuals.The Diabetic patient also represents a person with general health changes, with early and late complications, typical for his sistemic condition, such as a coma and ketoacidosis, hypoglycemic shock, cardiovascular, neurological, renal and sight alterarions; in reference to the local condition it’s possible to find high infection sensibility, postsurgical bleeding tendence and poor reparative response that an oral level, among other inflammatory and infectious affections, could promote and complicate pre-existent or primary periodontal pathosis.Now, is important to highlight the new classifications modalities in accordance to the medical improvements, stress not only to talk of diabetic conditions but ones that temporarity or increasingly are accompanied of hiperglucemia.
