ABSTRACT

We introduce a new technique to reduce the anterior shoulder dislocations that employs flexion and external rotation of the arm over the shoulder girdle. The objective is to show an easy, effective and safe technique. Thirty eight patients with confirmed diagnosis of anterior shoulder dislocation without complications were included in the study, the ages ranged from 18 to 85 years. We designed a prospective, clinical no controlled trial. The Spaso technique was applied in all 38 patients, the reduction was success in 35 and 3 had to receive different techniques to be reduced, in two cases more than one and the other had a dislocation for more than 48 hours evolution. No complications were noted. We consider a physiologic, useful, safe and effective new technique to reduce anterior shoulder dislocations, only one operator is required to perform the procedure and able to be perform in simple way by young physicians.
