ABSTRACT
Introduction: there is limited evidence about recommendations on the appropriate number of participants in clinical simulation. With this study we distributed a survey among experts in clinical simulation in Latin America with the objective of identifying the number of participants associated with each type of simulation activity within their simulation centers. Objective: identify, according to experts practice in Latinoamérica, the number of participants according to types of simulation. Material and methods: between April and July 2022 the survey, obtaining answers from 50 (5.26%) simulation experts who were surveyed about the number of participants in clinical simulation and different aspects of it. We performed a descriptive analysis using non-parametric tests to assess and report the data. We also inquired for reasons to increase or reduce the number of participants and realized a bottom-up qualitative analysis to report the results. Results: even there were some outliers, most respondents (95%) referred relations of 18 participants or less for simulation activities. There were reasons to modify these relations that we classified in external (eg. sanitary restrictions), related to the didactical process and not related to the educational process (eg. economic). Conclusions: according to the surveyed 18 or less participants for each simulation activity could be used as a base for educational planning, reducing the number in more complex activities and being able to increase when enough resources are available or when the educational results require a major number of participants.REFERENCES
