ABSTRACT

Red ear syndrome was described approximately 28 years ago, which is characterized by being recurrent, unilateral or bilateral with episodes of redness, swelling and a burning sensation of the external ear, a condition that rarely occurs in children and it is more common in adults. It is related to various neurological entities such as; upper cervical pathology, glossopharyngeal or trigeminal neuralgia, temporomandibular dysfunction among others. It is frequently related to migraine, however there may be idiopathic cases. This paper describes a pediatric patient with idiopathic red ear syndrome.
