Use of the descriptors according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages at Mayabeque Faculty of Medical Sciences

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The Scientific and technological advances condition the historical and social development of the XXI century so, communication is compulsory in foreign languages. The medical universities require the interaction of their professionals at international level, to create strategies and solve difficulties in English Language.
Objective: To identify the difficulties in the implementation of descriptors, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages at Mayabeque Faculty of Medical Sciences.
Methods: An observational and descriptive study was carried out in the General Formation Department of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, in Mayabeque, from January, 2019 to January, 2020. The universe of study was formed by the 15 professors of English. Theoretical methods were used: historical–logical, analytical–synthetic and inductive–deductive. As empirical methods: observation, interviews and document analysis. Mathematics-statistical for the distribution of the absolute and relative frequencies to process the information.
Results: The empirical methods for the diagnosis of knowledge and implementation status of the descriptors, showed insufficiencies which were not stated in the analysis of the documents in lesson controls. In the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the descriptors related to English for Specific Purposes in Medical Sciences have not been established.
Conclusions: It is important for the professors of English, in the Medical Universities, the management and use of descriptors for the constant evaluation and accreditation of the communicative competence.
