Complications in relationship to implants pacemakers

ABSTRACT

He/she was carried out study of cases of patient with it implants of temporary and definitive pacemaker in period of twenty-one months (January-1994 to September-1995). With the objective of identifying the behavior of the patients that you/they are subjected to this treatment, determining the incidence of complications and/or events related with the installation of the same ones. Retrospective study of cases, observational, with traverse court of two cohorts, with descriptive analysis with effect directionality causes, universe of 100% of patients treateds with pacemaker temporary definitive and/or of the Hospital of Cardiology of the National Medical Center, with a total of 336 files for the investigation, being included patient bigger than 18 years of age, except with pacemaker transcutaneous, with age variables finding the sixth decade of life, in 51% of the masculine sex, 44% in blockade of third degree like installation diagnosis, for via subclavia in storm 70% and definitive 84%, permanency of 71% of 1 to 5 days and 18 months in definitive in both they present infection in more percentage. Concluding that the behavior is similar in both sexes and age, the cause of the one implants in both it is the same one; the complications are presented long term and as a consequence of dysfunction of the temporary or definitive pacemaker.
