ABSTRACT

We report three cases of people who died and underwent medical-legal necropsy due to a history of one falling from a tree, another due to an apparent convulsive state on public roads, and the last due to sudden death on public roads. The post-mortem examination revealed in one case the presence of a seed of mamoncillo (Melicoccus bijugatus) in the upper airway, this seed corresponds to a fruit found in the intertropical zone of America, the other case found a seed of mango (Mangifera indica) in the upper airway, this seed corresponds to a fruit native to Asia, but cultivated throughout the world, the last case was due to the presence of a traditional food (pork entrails) "chunchullo" in the airway top.. The necropsy findings in the three cases are consistent with mechanical obstruction of the airways by seeds of these tropical fruits and a traditional food; The scenes and medical care are reviewed, and the necropsy findings, the mechanisms of death, as well as the particular conditions associated with medical care are explained.
