ABSTRACT

Introduction. The mechanics of injuries is a medical-forensic procedure that serves to know how these damages were produced, which is why knowledge of the way in which their study and integration should be carried out is necessary. Likewise, their understanding is also important for the clinician, because their participation by correctly applying medical propaedeutics and semiology when documenting the injuries presented by a hospitalized victim and/or aggressor, contributes to the result that forensic medical experts can achieve. in its study since it must be based, in addition to other evidence, on the information obtained from the medical notes of the clinical file. In this article, a case in which stab wounds were caused will be studied as a paradigm to know how to build an injury mechanics.
Conclusion. As observed in the case studied, the mechanics of injuries, in addition to helping to determine how these damages occurred, can also help defense attorneys, prosecutor attorneys and Judges, have elements to issue their conclusions or verdicts on one person's intent in inflicting injury on another during an assault.
