ABSTRACT

Introduction: the accessory scaphoid is a variant of the development in the secondary ossification centers, mistakenly considered normal; when it is symptomatic, it causes pain, which can cause flat feet. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential for the prognosis. Clinical case: we present the case of an adolescent with symptomatic accessory scaphoid, initially treated conservatively, without improvement, who underwent surgery. Results: six weeks after surgery, the patient returned to his activities without pain, achieving a successful result. Conclusion: the clinic and its complications should be considered. Conservative treatment should only be performed in refractory cases.
