ABSTRACT

The granulocyte colony stimulating factor promotes the maturating and differentiating process for granulocytic progenitors in the bone marrow. Its application generates the release of a significant number of hematopoietic stem cells that have been shown to have the ability to differentiate cells of other tissues such as the nervous, hence it is proposed as a possible therapeutical candidate in cerebrovascular diseases. According to the results of preclinical studies, the granulocyte colony stimulating factor is being investigated as a specific treatment option for cerebrovascular disease. However; larger clinical studies for longer periods are required.
