ABSTRACT

Introduction: Mirizzi syndrome (MS) is a rare complication in cholecystitis and cholelithiasis, characterized by the presence of a large gallstone or multiple stones in the cystic duct, which is associated with inflammation, external obstruction of the bile duct, with or without cholecystocholedochal fistula. Clinical case: 14-year-old adolescent, with obesity and symptoms compatible with bile duct obstruction. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and cholangioresonance (CRM) studies supported the diagnosis of SM. A successful cholecystectomy was performed. Conclusions: Mirizzi syndrome is a rare entity that must be considered in the differential diagnosis of cholestatic jaundice in adolescents with overweight or obesity.
