ABSTRACT

Objective: identify the ideal number of closed bottles filled with water that a refrigerating unit with biologicals should have by using a mathematical formula following the recommendations of the Vaccination Manual. Material and methods: several mathematical formulas were developed to identify the ideal number of closed bottles filled with water that should be on the bottom shelf of refrigerators that store vaccines. Refrigerators with various dimensions were included. Results: a mathematical formula was obtained that indicates the ideal number of closed bottles filled with water throughout the refrigerator, according to the area of its floor. Conclusions: an adequate cold network guarantees the quality of the vaccines that are kept in the different medical units. The formula presented allows to guarantee that there is an adequate amount of these.
