ABSTRACT

Necrotizing fasciitis is a rapidly progressive infectious entity that affects the subcutaneous fascia, causing necrosis and a systemic inflammatory response, with septic shock or even death. There are risk factors for this to occur within them, immunocompromise, age, underlying pathologies, etc. It is a medical-surgical emergency which is potentially fatal because the infectious source must be removed by aggressive debridement or even amputation if necessary and broad-spectrum antimicrobials must be administered immediately and when everything is done within the first 6 hours of hospital admission can significantly improve prognosis. This is an updated review of this entity, it highlights classification scores, types and forms of invasion of bacteria and its timely approach.
