ABSTRACT
We show herein a case of a female patient who presented pericarditis
and tamponade after left pleural effussion following
central venous catheter installation for TPN. We think that it
is possible that chemical irritation caused by the liquid of the
pleural effusion could be the responsable of pericardial irritation,
with chest pain, elevation of the ST segment in the ECG,
evolving until tamponade.
