ABSTRACT

Panfacial fractures are facial injuries that involve fractures in all three facial thirds. These fractures are common in polytrauma patients and may be associated with conditions in other body systems. The management of these fractures is complex and must be approached in a multidisciplinary manner. The goal of treatment is to avoid long-term sequelae and restore the patient's anatomy and function. 3D volumetric computed tomography is used to evaluate the fracture pattern. Early treatment of displaced fractures causing functional problems is a priority. In cases of polytrauma patients, stabilizing the patient takes priority before performing surgery. The objective of this study is to report a clinical case of a polytrauma patient who presented to the emergency department and the preoperative and surgical management by the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology Service at Caracas University Hospital, highlighting the importance of preoperative planning and preparation as key factors in the success of the treatment.
