ABSTRACT

In this communication we discuss the epidemiological panorama of dengue, which is being changed by influences of the ecological triad, from climatic changes and geographic hot spots that favor the interrelationship between arboviruses, vectors, and hosts, adjustments of the virus itself, with more serotypes predominating virulent and pathogenic than others, as well as the presence of other vector species with vector capacity that ensure the distribution of the virus in regions not previously seen. The current status of treatments and vaccines with important advances regarding this arboviral disease is also discussed.
