ABSTRACT

Introduction: lipomas are the most frequent mesenchymal tumors. Only 2% are in a deep location, located below the fascia surrounding them. Clinical case: a 71-year-old male with intense pain in the right shoulder after two months of evolution. A magnetic resonance imaging study found intramuscular lipoma of the infraspinatus and apparent involvement of the teres minor. Conclusion: magnetic resonance imaging is the study of choice to assess deep soft tissue lesions, as it is challenging to differentiate their intra- or inter-muscular origin if they are in small muscles.
