ABSTRACT

Palliative care (PC) is based on a multidisciplinary approach to the patient and their family to prevent and alleviate suffering by promoting and maintaining an optimal life in the process of the oncological disease. The present review will allow us to understand the current state of palliative services, identify the professional team that provides support to the patient and the family, specify the moment in which the PC is required, the public policies that intervene and a flowchart of care for the oncological patient, and in turn describe some challenges and opportunities immersed in the process.
