ABSTRACT
During 2023, Mexico faced a significant lack in organ donation culture, with only an average donor rate of 4.3 per million inhabitants. The implementation of educational programs targeted at the youth population has shown its effectiveness in other countries such as Argentina and Spain. The Zigrid Project, emerged in Baja California, aims to raise awareness among the scout population about the importance of organ donation and debunk misconceptions. Educational materials have been created in collaboration with experts in the field, and various activities have been carried out, achieving a total of 14,300 direct impacts and 57,200 indirect impacts. Additionally, agreements were established with government entities, and digital campaigns led by young people reached more than 339,934 individuals. Although Mexico faces challenges in promoting organ donation, the Zigrid Project demonstrates that youth-focused education can be an effective strategy to change perceptions and increase awareness of this crucial cause.REFERENCES
